Okay, because I am officially The Worst™, I haven’t done any posts for the awards that I have been nominated for in the last year.
Also, the small matter that I don’t feel like I actually deserve any of them and subsequently keep putting off this post.
After some extensive trawling through the comments on this blog, I’ve managed to round up my nominations so now you get to read them in one big word vomit post! Read at your own risk.
First up, we have the Sunshine Blogger award from earthqueenami of the Kanto Legacy way back last August. I swear your legacy is on my to-read list, but I keep getting into the first few chapters and then life comes for me. I was also nominated for the same award by Gryffindork twice, from the Langurds and from Generation One of the Round-Robin Boolprop Legacy. Thank you both so much!

Earthqueenami’s questions;
1. Who or what inspired you to start writing a Sims blog?
I’m not 100% sure, actually. My very first legacy (which I tend to ignore the existence of because they are also The Worst) was probably inspired by my best friend Laura. She was only person I knew who did legacies, as I was very much unaware of the existence of the sims community at the time. The Gordons, however, came after a break from failed challenges (I’d sort of given up) and I can almost certainly put their start down to Sam & the Langurds.
2. Do you have a favourite townie in any of the games? If so, why are they your favourite?
I can’t say that I do as I don’t look too hard at townies, but considering that I’ve used Joel Vidal from Isla Paradiso as my legacy founder’s spouse twice now, I probably should say him. He’s just so damn clueless and adorable. He also makes some pretty babies, despite his freakishly small eyes. He’s always a teen when I start the game too, so he always has a mystery final trait.
3. What’s your favourite song (or songs) at the moment?
I have three! I mean, I technically have a 15 track playlist called ‘The Good Shit’ that I listen to on a loop. It’s the updated playlist that contains my current favourites. But here are the three I narrowed it down to you for your enjoyment!
This came on in a McDonald’s. My boyfriend nearly disowned me for my ‘dancing’.
Fact; I have listened to Everybody Talks a combined total of 460 times on ListenOnRepeat. It’s been my backing track to 90% of my Dragon Age: Origins playthrough.
This I discovered recently, and have probably listened to it far too many times in the last 24 hours.
4. What’s your favourite Disney movie?
Tangled, 100%. I know all the words to the songs and to the movie itself. I used to watch it every morning when I woke up and just before I went to bed, as it was about the only thing that could put me in a good mood at the time.
5. What is/was your favourite subject in school? Why?
I really loved my music classes at GCSE. One of our units meant we formed a band and did band practices, then performed for people and stuff. That, and we just generally did no real work and it was pretty easy and lots of fun. I was the singer, because pianist was taken and I just wanted a chance to actually sing. Though, being the ‘Front Man’ was utterly terrifying at age 16.
6. If you could live inside of the world of any fandom, which would you choose?
Tough question! It’s somewhere between Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Mortal Instruments, Middle Earth, and the world of the Mistborn series. They all have their unique perks and pitfalls, and I don’t think I could choose between them. Incidentally, these also make up my favourite book series.
7. If you could be any life state from TS3, which would you want to be?
Witch would be fun – I could have a pet familiar too! Though depending on the time, being a vampire might be interesting. I’m not a big fan of death, and having all the time in the world to do pretty much whatever I wanted and being able to learn any skills with no time pressure would be pretty nice.
8. Which Olympic sport do you enjoy watching the most?
I’m not super into sports in any way shape or form, but I always like watching the Dressage and the Eventing.
9. Are you more of a cat person or a dog person?
Cat person all the way.
10. Why is a raven like a writing desk?
This question has so many plausible answers despite being utterly ridiculous, but my favourite has always been that raven feathers can be used as quills.
Gryffindork’s questions
1. Let’s dive right in. Trump or Clinton? (Any alternative answer is acceptable, even preferable.)
As I’m not American it doesn’t really matter what I think (though given that our country seems to be in competition over who can fuck up the country more, I’m not really in a position to talk), but literally anybody but Trump.
2. Of equal importance, how do you like your eggs?
Despite having about twenty chickens, I’m not a huge fan of eggs. I really only eat them softboiled!
3. Besides rent/food/basic survival things, what do you spend most of your money on?
Games & books. Though, I have just bought all the parts to a new computer, but that’s just a single purchase instead of one over time.
4. Have you ever finished a game of Monopoly?
Yes! Though it does normally create arguments.
5. Have your Sims ever made you cry? Be honest pls.
I don’t think it’s made me actually cry… but I’ve come close a few times.
6. Name a weird talent you have that not many people know about.
I am weirdly proficient at parallel parking? My car is pretty small, which probably helps, but I can fit it into pretty much anywhere.
7. What is your IRL LTW? (Pick one from the game or make your own.)
The one I always give my simself is The Jockey or One Sim Band, but really the Author one would probably be more like me. Really though, I have no idea what I want to do with my life, so picking one of these is quite hard.
8. If we were still in TS2 days, what would your aspiration be?
I never properly played TS2 to the extent that I play TS3, so I don’t really know this one either!
9. What colour are your socks right now?
I don’t wear socks very much because I am generally quite a warm person, so socks = sweaty feet and a bad time. I do have a pair of over the knee ace-flag socks in the mail, though!
10. What is your go-to goofy face? (Describe it in words, emoji style, or post a picture if you so wish.)
All my faces are goofy faces, but I stick my tongue out a ridiculous amount for someone who is not a child.
11. Did you remember to wake up Green Day on October 1st?
I didn’t, because the song is about the death of his father…
Gryffindork’s other questions;
1. Who are you on WordPress? How about on Boolprop? Which generation are you taking over? Is this one question or four?
I am DSLady on WordPress, I am DSLady on Boolprop, and I am DSLady pretty much everywhere else on the internet, too. I’m down to take over Generation Seven, I think, but that seems like it might be about to change..
2. Any grand plans for the Maitlands? Small plans will suffice.
I currently have no real plans, I’ll take what I’m given and roll with it.
3. Drop and gimme five (push-ups, that is). Now tell me what hurts the most.
My face.
4. What would Amortentia smell like to you?
Horse, hay & leather (which are kind of one smell), the smell of book pages, and my boyfriend.
5. Heads or tails?
Heads.
6. How do you take your coffee?
I like my coffee like I like my women, in a plastic cup.
7. What is your go-to dance move?
If it’s me and my friend Abi, we do the twist and other various moves gleaned from Hairspray.
8. Favourite breakfast food?
If I’m on my own, I’ll probably forget to even have breakfast. Otherwise, my boyfriend tends to bring me something, usually cereal. Always crunchnut cornflakes because I’m boring like that.
9. Guilty pleasure?
Kids TV shows. Voltron Legendary Defender, Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, and Star vs The Forces of Evil are my current obsession.
10. Pet peeve?
When people decide they no longer want an item in a shop, rather than going and putting in back where they got it, they just chuck it on the side for someone else to deal with. No!! Do not do this!! I hate you!! I will curse you to the seventh circle of hell if I catch you doing this!! And especially don’t put frozen stuff in the fridges just thinking it’ll be alright! It won’t!! We have actual work to do and probably won’t see it until it’s too late! And then it will have to be thrown out and I will personally hunt you down and kill you!
Also, don’t just chuck it on the shelf above its actual place and think ‘close enough’. How much more effort would it be to put it back where it actually goes?
11. Last but not least: on a scale of 1-10, how awkward are you IRL?
11!
This blog was also nominated for three awards by fluffymao from The Mayfields (who I am finally reading! Finally!) and the Diabolical Legacy!
I got the Patronus Award one on June 6th. “That wasn’t that long ago!” I hear you say. But ah, that is where you would be wrong! Because I was nominated on June 6th, 2016. I think it’s time, don’t you?
I was also nominated for the Versatile Blogger award last October, and the Liebster Award now over a month ago.
I can only say thank you so many times, but holy shit thank you so much!!
Right, to the actual awards!
Patronus Blog Award Acceptance Rules:
- Thank the blogger who nominated you, and link back to their page.
- Post the award picture on your blog.
- Write a short paragraph about yourself and what your blog means to you.
- If you could be any animal, what would it be?
- Pick and notify ten nominees.
Livy & The Gordons;
A short paragraph about myself has never been more daunting. I’m known to talk more than is necessary, but when it comes to talking about myself I can never think of a damn thing. So let’s start with this, shall we?
I turn 21 in two weeks. I love gaming, reading, and writing. Oh, and cats. My gaming list isn’t particularly extensive, though it having just been the Steam Summer Sales, I have just blown some money on a load more games. My current favourites and highly recommended are Stardew Valley (I have an entire section of my distractions blog dedicated to this game), Skyrim, Dragon Age, GTA V, Overwatch, and Kingdoms and Castles. Obviously Sims, too, but I figured that probably didn’t need mentioning seeing as that’s the reason we’re all here. I won’t give you a list of my favourite books because they’re all listed way above! You can also probably find out a lot about me just by the naming themes used on this blog.
The Gordons… mean an awful lot to me. I’ve been playing this save for the better part of two years, and I’ve been through a lot with them! They’ve made it from my dubious laptop, Dave, to my first real PC, Dasiy, and have just survived the move to my new hand built PC called Sheila. They’re also the only legacy to have made it past Generation Five, and so far the first one that has any chance of being completed! I was hoping to have them done by the end of the year, but it’s suddenly the end of July and I’m still on Gen Seven. If you want to really see how much the Gordons mean to me, stick around until the end of the challenge. I love each and every one of the sims to come out of this challenge ❤
If I could be any animal, I’d probably be a cat. No job or responsibilities, being able to sleep all day and roam at my own will? Sign me the fuck up.
Fluffy’s own image! I think.
Rules;
- Thank the person who nominated you (literally, thank you so much)
- Share the award on your blog.
- Share seven random facts about yourself.
- Tag 10 bloggers with less than 1000 followers and let them know they have been nominated.
Facts;
Seven facts about me!? Didn’t we already cover the fact I can’t talk about myself to save my own life?
ONE; I’m going to rip this one straight from fluffy, but let’s talk about my username. DSLady is a bit of an odd one, right? So this starts back in college, about four years ago now. Back in the early stages, where you can’t remember anyone’s name, but you know that they’re going to be the people you hang around with even if you only see them for a few hours a week because your class schedules don’t line up and you haven’t yet figured out who you actually like and who you don’t? Well, here’s where my name comes from. One of my friends, Karl, was utterly shocking at remembering names so started assigning people nicknames instead (how do you remember a nickname but not their actual name? Go figure.), such as one girl who loved leopard print was dubbed ‘Leopard Print Lady’. Are you getting it, yet?
Anyway, back during this time, I used to take my DS into college and challenge literally everyone to Mario Kart. Yes, I was that person. Because of the constant DS usage and my organisation of Mario Kart ‘parties’, I was dubbed DS Lady. Then (no, I’m still not done), when I was setting up my account for League of Legends (dear god why) Karl suggested I use DSLady as my username. And it stuck, and it’s been my username and gamertag for close to five years!
TWO; It was during these sessions of Mario Kart that I met my now-boyfriend! We’ve been together for nearly two years, and yes, we did get back together after the breakup last year. We essentially sat down and discussed the three issues that caused said breakup, and realised that two of them alone were down to my implant (DO NOT. RECOMMEND.) and the other was easily rectified with this fancy thing called communication.
THREE; I have never watched Game of Thrones, and probably never will. I’ll probably read them when he finishes the series, or dies. Whichever comes first. That sounds mean, but I am really not a big fan of starting unfinished series, especially not one as big as this!
FOUR; I once ‘rage quit’ a book for somewhere between a year to six months because the secondary main character died and I was not happy about it. My boyfriend never warned me about it, and so I just #NOPE’d right out of there. I have now finished them, am still not over the death and will forever be salty about it, but hail them as one of my favourite book series ever. Go figure.
FIVE; I name just about everything I come into contact with. My laptop, my PC, my new PC, both my monitors, and my car all have names. In order, they are; Dave, Daisy, Sheila, Charlie & Lola, and Velma.
SIX; I am writing a book! It’s not going very well. I’ve been doing it since I was 14, it has been through countless plot and character changes, I’ve probably scrapped around 20k of it, and now I only have 8k to show for six years of work. WHOOPS. I am trying to do more on it, and have even got commissions of the characters, but it’s hard. If anyone wants to talk to me about it, please come at me with your questions. It helps!
SEVEN; I am asexual! And really scraping the barrel on facts about me.
Aaaaand onto the big one, The Liebster Award! This one bypassed me the last time it was going around so this is a definite holy shit thank you so much!!??
The Rules of Being Leibstered;
The Liebster Award is for bloggers by bloggers. It’s a way to encourage your fellow bloggers, as well as draw more attention to blogs you think deserve it. Think of it as spreading the love. But there are a few rules to spread that love in the most organised manner possible.
- Say thank you to the person who has nominated you for the award (I will scream my thanks from the rooftops if I must, but that would be unsafe out here).
- Answer the 11 questions the person has asked you.
- Nominate people (comment on their blog to let them know).
- Ask the people you have nominated 11 questions.
What’s your favourite beverage?
I don’t drink much. And I don’t just mean alcoholic stuff; I barely even drink water, much to my boyfriend’s horror. But, in the true spirit of being British, I do love a good cup of tea. None of this cold & sweet crap, and none of this milky nonsense. When we finished building my PC (a stressful experience), I immediately collapsed into a chair afterwards saying all I wanted was some tea.
Do you write characters that share your viewpoints or clash? In-between?
I mean, I’d try to balance it but I’m probably pretty bad at it. I think that’s part of the reason why I write an observational and why I struggle more with the Runaway Gordon blog, because – at least with sims – I find it easier to be funny and pick holes in the gameplay than to be serious. Also largely due to the fact that my gameplay doesn’t lend itself easily towards story style writing.
Within my book, however, the characters are all fairly different in personality to myself – or at least so I hope. My biggest pitfall with my writing back in school was that my characters always sounded like me. My teachers were forever telling me that yes, my vocabulary and general grasp of writing was better than average for my age group, but I needed to broaden my characters and make them distinct from both myself and each other.
I try to write characters with different views, but I don’t think I could ever write a sexist/racist/homophobic character, who wasn’t painted as a villain. So I guess they’d be similar to my views in that area.
One word: ALIENS! What do you think?
To you, what is the best sounding word? What about the worst?
I have never really thought about what words sound like by themselves, so I don’t really have an answer to this question!
Put your rebel cap on. What’s the worst thing you’ve done that you’ve gotten a thrill out of?
There’s a reason I’m Chaotic Good, I don’t really do much in the way of rebellion! I tend to rebel in small ways, such as arguing stubbornly for/against something that I believe in and refusing to go along with people who do something I disapprove of, despite everyone else telling me just to shut up and make it easier for myself. I don’t… bow easily to the will of others and I can be a thorn in the side of those I don’t like.
You’ve had your fun, but now the psychic police are coming! What do you do?!
I can talk my way out of pretty much anything. Not so much just by using logic, but I am disturbingly good at coming up with plausible ‘lies’ and excuses on the fly. I have talked my way out of some sticky situations, and it’s honestly a skill that terrifies me.
Do you know your personality type? If so, care to share?
Myers-Briggs; INFP! Like Shakespeare & Tolkien, Frodo & Arwen, and even Lance Sweets if you’ve ever watched Bones!
Moral Alignment; Chaotic Good. I was bound to be chaotic something.
Hogwarts House (because everybody knows that’s just as important); Ravenclaw (sorted age 16)/Slytherin (sorted age 19)! If I was forced to chose, however, I’d pick Slytherin.
Blue. Red. Green. What’s the first thing you think of?
Pokemon. Who doesn’t!?
What was/is your most hated school subject? Why?
I was fairly meh about all my school subjects. There were none that I really hated for reasons other than horrible teachers or bland/uninteresting teaching methods. I mean, Geography wasn’t very high on my list because I found it quite boring, and while Maths was annoying I was fairly good at it. I didn’t like R.E, but that was because of my teacher, not the subject itself. I remember once walking out of that class, though I can’t remember why!
You’ve got to leave to someplace far away for some reason or another. You’ve got 10 minutes to pack one bag. What do you take?
Kindle and charger. DS and charger. Phone and charger. Headphones. Maybe my laptop and external hard drive, depending on where I’m going and how long for. I’d take all my leggings (they’re so cool) but probably only a handful of t-shirts because I wear the same three shirts in a cycle anyway, and you can always buy more clothes.
You’re about to die and need to pass on some grain of knowledge for future generations. What do you say?
I mean, I’m only 20 with basically no life experience, but one thing I have learned is that things have a way of working themselves out and to not let anyone stop you from being who you are. And if you don’t know who you are yet, that’s okay too. It will come.
So, you may be wondering why I’ve been skipping out on the last few steps of each award. Namely, the nominating other people. Well, that’s because I only read a small number of blogs and so I would just be nominating the same people over and over again.
As everyone’s already been nominated several times over, don’t feel obligated to do this (unless you’re like me and secretly love answering questions) but here are my list of ‘nominees’ followed my two sets of questions.
So, my 11 Questions for the Sunshine Blogger Award;
- How tall are you?
- Are you a morning person?
- If you could dye your hair any colour, which would you go? If none, why not?
- Sunrise or Sunset?
- Are you in the Minion hateclub or fanclub?
- What’s your Hogwarts house and why?
- Are you good at public speaking?
- Tell us about your favourite book.
- Favourite pizza topping?
- Is your life anything like it was two years ago?
- What is your favourite season?
Aaand my 11 Questions for the Liebster Award;
- How often do you listen to music?
- What kind of music you like? Share a song if you want!
- Do you have/want tattoos? Describe them!
- Have you read/watched LOTR? Do you like it or think it’s too long and boring?
- Thoughts on children?
-

Tangled is amazing ❤ And goodness gracious teach me your parallel parking skills!!!! Literally the only reason I don't have my driver's license yet is because I cannot, for the life of me, parallel park. Hmph.
Anyway, thank you so much for the nomination!!! I adore answering questions so I'll update my previous posts to answer yours 🙂

Tangled is probably my favourite Disney movie of all time ❤
Hahaha, I don't know where I got to be so good at it, tbh!! Actually, that's a lie. It probably had to a lot to do with the fact that the only free parking area around my second college required some tricky parking. Otherwise I had to pay for the multistorey down the road, and being the tight skimp that I am, refused to pay that if I could park for free somewhere else.

Lol, now Imma have to edit the post I just made, and add your noms. I’m like you, I love reading these things and finding more about my fellow bloggers. And answering questions is way fun, too.
I haven’t written anything in years, but happy to help you out with yours – I always was a better editor than a writer. I’m currently beta-reading my best friend’s hastily finished novel – so she can start her new, better one.

Ah, that Versatile Blogger image, it still haunts me. Yes, it’s mine. All the others were just way too pretty for the Diabolicals. XD Also, have a hearty congratulations!
I think you and I have similar tastes in music. Hard Times is a song I listen to when I’m walking to work. It’s just got a nice bounce to it that wakes me up and puts me in a good mood! 🙂
Tangled is good, but I prefer Beauty & the Beast and The Jungle Book, with Frozen coming in for a more recent entry. 😉
Awesome answers! I love learning about people, and these awards are a great way to let out my inner nosey body. XD
